A lot of people do a monthly favourites list when it comes to beauty products, but I’d rather do one favourites list and let you know when it changes radically. A bit of a reverse “products I regret buying”.
There’s twelve of them at the moment and I’ve already reviewed a few of them.
I’m not the best at using sunscreen on my body, that’s why I make sure that my makeup contains SPF. However, this aerosol sun spray from Skinfood means that I can at least quickly spray my arms and legs before I go out the door. It’s not sticky or greasy, but super quick and the most convenient thing ever invented. Just a slight exaggeration.
TonyMoly’s Peach Hand Cream is one I reviewed just when I started this blog and since then I’ve grown to love it more and more. It’s very moisturising, softening, and smells freaking amazing. I recently bought one for a friend of mine and she loved the scent too, so there’s now at least two of us who like it. I do keep this on my bedside table and use it before going to bed.
The body butter is one of those products I like having around. It’s moisturising, absorbs quickly, and the smell is fantastic. I’m using a fair amount of Palmer’s products (facial scrub, moisturiser, bb cream and probably something I’m forgetting at the moment) and they tend to be really really good. Especially given that they’re cheap. So if you’re on a budget looking for good western skincare products, try Palmer’s.
The Balm’s Sexy Mama anti-shine translucent powder (seriously who the fuck named this product?)
Etude House’s Precious Mineral Any Cushion (Natural beige) with SPF 50
Urban Decay’s All Nighter (makeup setting spray)
The cushion foundation is one I’ve reviewed and it’s my go to foundation/bb cream for everyday wear. It’s good, budget friendly, and has high spf. So yeah, it ticks all the boxes. Since Korean cushions tent to give a rather shiny finish, I use the anti-shine powder from the Balm on my t-zone to ensure I don’t look sweaty rather than glowing. It’s good but not amazing, I still use it pretty often and the packaging is gorgeous. I have other setting powders too, but this one is probably the best one.
When I’m going for a night out or suspect my makeup will be challenged by the weather, I use the Urban Decay setting spray. It’s a good spray, a bit too pricey in my opinion but since it lasts long I’m not too reluctant to recommend it. It get’s the job done but it won’t change your life.
Two products here. You’ve heard me nag about them many times. Yes, it’s TonyMoly’s Delight Lip Tint in 02 and Guerlain’s Rogue G de Guerlain in Garconne.
They’re both amazing despite being at the opposite end of the budget categories. The tint is probably the best value for money I’ve ever seen in a makeup product and the lipstick is completely worth the high price. If I could only own one lip product it would be the Guerlain lipstick. It’s a powerhouse.
BH Cosmetics’ Galaxy Chic Palette
NYX’s Natural Palette
Etude House’s Play 101 Pencils
Clio’s Hitch Eye-King Longlash no smudge mascara.
This mascara is one of my all time favourite products and I recommend it to everyone. It survived a pool party. It survived a shower. It survived tears. It’s hands down the best mascara I’ve ever worn. It also only costs about 20 bucks which is a very reasonable price for a good mascara in my opinion.
The Play 101 Pencils come in god knows how many shades and they’re really good for experimental eye looks. They’re pigmented, easy to use, versatile, and fairly cheap. Great for those who like to experiment with makeup.
The NYX palette is one of my favourite budget items because it has all the colours you need for smokey eyes, can be worn to any occasion, is cheap (<13 dollars), easy to use, and quite durable. I don’t tend to use primer and it still stays on ok. I’ve hit pan on two out of the six shadows and I plan to repurchase this one when I’ve used all of it.
The BH Cosmetics palette is on this list for a bit of a different reason, it’s my go to product for Character Creator. I love the space theme, the shadows are pretty, since they’re baked you can use them with water and it’s perfect for those bold or experimental looks. The next time you plan to dress up as an alien, this is the palette to get.
