Product: What’s Your Type? Mascara
Brand: The Balm
Shade: Tall, Dark, and Handsome
Price: 24.95 AUD at David Jones
Available: In David Jones stores or online.
First Impression: This is silly in the same way most products from the Balm are, they have their own charm but it’s also kinda awkward. The whole gimmick sits a bit uneasy with me, don’t know why. The product is easy to use, doesn’t clump or create spider legs. It looks really good. My eyes don’t complain about it and it lasts all day. The wand is really thin compared to most mascaras I’ve used but it wasn’t difficult to use or required any extra effort.
Packaging: I’m throwing the box away at some point, its unusual design is useful for differentiating it from all the other black tubes people tend to have in their makeup collection. The tube itself is practical, the wand is nice to use. It works, especially if you like the gimmick.
Usage: You put it on your lashes. Not complicated, no multiple steps or anything like that.
Value For Money:
It’s a really good mascara. It stays on, it does the job, and I don’t look like a goth at the end of the day. 25 dollars is on the pricier side but this is on par with my Clio mascara in terms of quality and both of them beat a lot of pricier mascaras that I have tried. It’s also better than the drugstore ones I’ve tried. Mascaras are products you’re meant to switch out fairly often, so that’s something to take into account. It doesn’t feel like I wasted my money or that I should have paid way less. I’d say it’s pretty good value for money as long as you use it regularly.
Would I buy this again?
Maybe. I don’t use mascaras that often so it will last me a while. When the time comes to get a new one I’ll probably repurchase it unless there’s something else that has caught my attention. I’m glad I bought this product.
